Definitions of commonly used Nokē Smart Entry terms
Common Terms -
Manual Unlock/Opened Using Forced Entry:
For Nokē Volt devices, this term refers to someone being physically inside the unit and triggering the unlocking mechanism from within, as opposed to using the Mobile App to open it. Depending on the FW of the Volt, the activity will either say Manual Unlock or Opened Using Forced Entry.
Out-of-Zone Unlock/Out-of-Zone Attempt:
This indicates that a user attempted to open a device in an Access Zone they are not a part of. If you need more information on Zones, please refer to our Knowledge Base Article on Understanding Access Zones.
Remotely Unlocked:
This term is used when unlocks occur via the Web Portal rather than through the Mobile App.
Occupied and/or In Use:
Both of these terms are used to describe a unit that is currently rented.
PMS:
This is an abbreviation for your Property Management Software.
Offline or Digital Keys:
Offline or digital keys form the foundation of the Nokē system. Essentially, when a user arrives at your facility, our system performs almost instant checks on their location (to verify they are on-site), rental status (to confirm they are not delinquent), and assigned schedule (to ensure they are within the correct schedule). Once all necessary security checks are completed, the system issues the user a "key," informing Nokē devices that this user is authorized and should be granted access. Since connectivity can be sporadic within a facility, once the "key" is verified, it is downloaded to their mobile phone and no longer requires Wi-Fi or cellular service to function. This is why it is sometimes referred to as an "offline key."
Roles vs Permissions:
Permissions assigned to roles define the specific actions and access levels that individuals with those roles have within a system. These permissions ensure that users are granted appropriate rights and restrictions based on their responsibilities. Each role type is associated with a set of predefined permissions that align with the tasks and functions related to that role. Essentially, roles are a compilation of a set of permissions.
