Shared Users Cannot Have Fobs Linked to Their Accounts

Can I set up a fob for a shared user?

Overview:
Shared users, or secondary users, are not able to have fobs set up or linked to their accounts for facility access. Fobs are designed exclusively for the primary tenant associated with an account.

Details:
The Nokē Smart Entry system restricts fob access to only the primary tenant for security and access management purposes. While shared users can have mobile access to the facility through the app, they cannot be assigned a fob for entry.

This means that fobs can only be configured and linked to the primary tenant’s account. The primary tenant is the account holder responsible for managing all facility access permissions, including the ability to assign or remove fobs.

Why Can't Shared Users Have Fobs?
Fobs are a physical form of access that provide secure entry to the facility and units. To ensure the proper assignment and tracking of physical access devices, they are restricted to the primary tenant’s account. This also helps maintain a clear record of who is authorized to access the facility and units.

Alternatives for Shared Users:
Shared users who require access can use the following alternatives:

  • Mobile App Access: Shared users can use the Storage Smart Entry by Nokē mobile app to access gates, units, or entry points.
  • Primary Tenant's Fob: The primary tenant can provide their fob to the shared user if necessary, but this must be managed by the primary account holder. This is not the recommended method, as your Activity tracking will not show accurate information about who is on-site if a shared user uses the primary tenant’s fob.

Conclusion:
Currently, shared users cannot be assigned fobs in the Nokē system. All fob assignments are limited to the primary tenant, ensuring proper access control and security for all users.
